Fundraising Potential

Sponsorship – a great opportunity to raise money from local commercial organisations.

Contact the fundraising team at the local hospice or palliative care service you are benefitting

Don’t forget to offer singers the opportunity to obtain personal sponsorship.

Organise a pre-concert reception for local sponsors.

Associated functions / events - use the event to raise as much money as possible by:

  • Holding pre-concert fundraising events to cover overheads
  • Offering post-concert and or interval refreshments
  • Organising a competition for choirs to sing to raise money on the previous Saturday in a local shopping mall (this has proved successful using local choirs, each taking a 1-hour slot, to raise money, between 10am and 4pm.)
  • Inviting local musical groups of all kinds to bring their contribution to the evening by making a donation 'in-kind'. Some may wish to do more than just sing and sell audience tickets. They may hold individual coffee mornings/garden parties/charity lunches etc among their friends to help swell the fund and cover overheads
  • Setting a minimum target, particularly for smaller performances, from participation in the event and fix ticket prices accordingly. If necessary, help to achieve this with associated activity eg: stalls, other small events, etc.
  • Giving the event local focus by stating that you aim to raise money from something specific for the hospice eg paying for x hours of nurse's time, a day-care session, a home care visit or helping towards a current hospice project. Such a focus always appeals to supporters.
  • Leaving a legacy leaflet on every seat
